Ruby has always been the most valuable gemstone in the world. According to the legend, ruby was the most precious in the 12 bizarre stones produced by God when he was creating the world. The Bible considers the wisdom is of greater value than ruby, which means being valuable. In the Sanskrit, the ruby means “The King of the Gemstones”. In China, red color symbolizes many meanings. On New Year’s Day or other festivals, it is the good item for gifting the relatives and friends.
Even today, ruby is still more precious and rare than the top grade diamond, especially the fine quality ruby. It can hardly be seen for the ruby over 5 carat. The factor that affects its value is the color. The fine quality one can be as red as you imagine: a magical color which is so pure and rich, none of the grey and blue refraction. The color of fine ruby is such strong, just as the mine burning red, which is the strongest color our ancestors could probably see. No wonder they considered the ever burning flame as magic.
Except color, the factors that affect the value are definition, cutting and size. The ruby which is has high definition and with no flaws is much more valuable than the one which can be seen the inclusions. The cutting quality directly affects the charm of the ruby. They ruby with good cutting can reflect the backward light to surface equally, and those with deep or light cutting will from black or fading zone in the center. The shape of the stone should be very symmetrical, and with no mark or scratching when polishing. When on sales, in the same quality, the larger size ruby will have higher price than the small size one due to its rareness.
