The Star of South Africa weighs 47.55 carats, colorless, pear carving shape, originating in South Africa, is an excellent clear water diamond, the original diamond weighs 83.5 carats. In 1866, a girl in Kimberley town of South Africa picked up a large diamond and gave it to Nicole, a hunter. After changing masters several times, the diamond was sold at a shocking 125000 pounds. The news that there were diamonds in Kimberley spread like thunder and shocked the whole South Africa and the whole world. The gold seekers of the world, the businessmen gave up the business, the farmers stopped farming, all crowded to Kimberley town to search for the diamond. In 1958, another famous jeweler, Mr. Winston, bought the diamond and gave it off to Smithsonian Museum as a precious gift without compensation, being admired by the travelers. After entering the Museum, the nightmare attaching to the diamond came to an end finally.
